Joel Sucherman, Sr Director/Digital Products, NPR
Joel Sucherman is senior director for digital products at NPR, helping to guide digital strategy and lead the teams that build NPR’s presence on mobile, connected cars, the Web, wearables, and other emerging platforms. Sucherman’s group also has responsibility for NPR APIs and streaming audio and video. Before his work in public radio, Sucherman’s role could best be described as chief digital evangelist for USA TODAY, helping a traditional print organization re-imagine storytelling on various platforms. An accomplished multimedia journalist, Sucherman led teams that created some of USATODAY.com’s most innovative work, including its first, award-winning iPhone app. He founded the first streaming media unit at USA TODAY. Sucherman has his roots in radio as a former Capitol Hill correspondent in Washington, D.C.
