VP/Business Development, Midroll Media
Erik Diehn has been involved in the world of podcast monetization for over three years, making him a veritable old-timer in this industry. He is currently the VP of business development at Midroll Media, which produces podcasts under the Earwolf and Wolfpop brands (Comedy Bang! Bang! and How Did This Get Made?) and serves as the advertising sales agent for 200-plus other shows, including WTF with Marc Maron, the Nerdist network, Vox’s Vergecast, and many others. Prior to Midroll, he led business development at New York Public Radio/WNYC, home to podcast greats Radiolab, Freakonomics, Here’s The Thing, and Death, Sex & Money. Before his life in podcasting, Diehn held a variety of roles in digital media strategy and operations. He worked in a corporate strategy role at Bloomberg LP, was a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, served as a key member of the product launch team at MTV Networks’ digital music service (now Rhapsody), and, as head of web development at Marvel Entertainment, re-launched Marvel.com and transformed it into a profitable editorial destination site.
